Race on River Road this Saturday, May 16

Alpine, NJ from the New York side.

It's bike month, and how better to celebrate than by racing on a local road that HAS NO CARS!

Yes BBB has been waiting for this day for a long time: A time trial put on by Century Road Club Association this coming Saturday, May 16. (Well, there was another one earlier this year, but both are firsts for RIver Road.)

The race will start at the Alpine boat basin parking lot. This is easily accessible either from Alpine, NJ (via 9W) or from the end of "River Road" just south of the GWB.

Please note there is a gigantic NEW rockslide between Ross Dock (Palisades Ave.) and the Alpine Boat Basin on River Road though it is passable by bike (not by car). Give yourself a little more time if taking this route, because there is other debris on the road that requires extra care to get around.

The race will go from the Alpine boat basin to the top of the hill in Alpine, NJ, with a return. The total mileage is approximately 1.5 miles. The race is open to all with a USCF license or a USCF 1-Day license ($10), but is limited to 120 entries.

Categories include men's 1/2/3 and Pro, women's, Cat 4, Cat 5, Masters 40 plus and Masters 50 plus. Online registration closes on Thursday, May 14, but you can also register on site for $15. All of the categories show a 7:45 am start time, but go in the order shown above, with 1:30 minutes between riders.

The Alpine event will be a fund raiser for the New York Alzheimer’s Association, one of the charities supported by the Foundation sub-team. Additional donations will be gratefully accepted.
